2.2 First sign-in
After adding Excel2Word by Wrepit to Word, you need to sign in. Your very first sign-in on a device requires some extra setup, sometimes including asking you for permissions to read data from your Sharepoint, which is necessary to access and connect to your Excel files:
Click the “Sign in with Microsoft” button (or the “Or change account” link, if you need to sign in with a different Microsoft user than the one which is signed in in Word.) – Figure 2.
On your first sign-in you will see a message (Figure 3) asking you to decide which sign-in model your IT Admin has decided for your organization.
If your admin has not said anything about “specific sites”, choose “Continue to sign-in”.
Otherwise, choose “Specific Sharepoint site only”
Continue signing in with your preferred Microsoft user. Depending on your organization’s security setup you may see another prompt:
No prompt: Your IT admin has already granted you the necessary permissions for this add-in, and you are ready to work in Excel2Word by Wrepit.
“Permissions requested” (Figure 4). Either you are an IT Admin, or your organization allows you to approve add-in permissions yourself. Hit “Accept” to continue signing in. If you are an IT Admin, you can choose to “Consent on behalf of your organization” to help colleagues avoid this question in the future.
“Need admin approval” (Figure 5). Your IT Admin has not granted you permissions for the application.
Did you select the wrong option in step 2 above? Click “Return to the application”.
Have an admin account and want to approve the add-in? Click “Have an admin account? Sign in with that account”
Otherwise, click “Return to the application” and ask your IT admin to grant your access to the add-in.
Important notes:
The add-in only asks for read-only access, not write-access, meaning that the add-in can never modify your Excel documents.
Most likely, based on your organization’s IT policy, an IT administrator will need to sign in to the add-in first and approve it for the organization. Excel2Word only uses Microsoft APIs to send and receive data on your computer, and at no point is any data sent to either Wrepit or other 3rd parties.
